This is the official press release, covered by Travel Weekly Magazine
Peruvian company Delfin Amazon Cruises has taken over all promotional and sales efforts of the 43-passenger Amazon Discovery, a vessel that was formerly being marketed by Haimark Travel.
Delfin has owned and operated the vessel since it launched in October, but river cruise operator Haimark Travel had been handling all marketing and sales efforts. Delfin has now fully integrated the Amazon Discovery into its product portfolio and will manage all marketing and sales efforts moving forward.
“We look forward to providing a seamless transition for existing customers and welcoming new guests onboard the Amazon Discovery,” said Aldo Macchiavello, Delfin’s founder and CEO.
The company said it has begun to approach existing customers as well as potential new customers. Amazon Discovery customers can contact Delfin Amazon Cruises via email at [email protected].
The 21-cabin Amazon Discovery sails seven-day itineraries through the Peruvian Amazon.
Delfin’s announcement comes as the Federal Maritime Commission this week said that Haimark Line Ltd., operator of the Saint Laurent coastal ship, has canceled all future cruises. The fate of affiliated river cruise line Haimark Travel Ltd. was not mentioned in the statement released by the Federal Maritime Commission.
Haimark Line and Haimark Travel were acquired by private equity firm VC2 Capital in January.
The Haimark Travel website is currently down and Haimark Travel and VC2 Capital have not yet responded to requests for comments.
In addition to the Amazon Discovery, Haimark Travel operates seven river cruise vessels — the 68-passenger Mekong Navigator, the 24-passenger Mekong Princess, the 56-passenger Irawaddy Explorer, the 56-passenger Ganges Voyager I and II, the Avalon Siem Reap and Avalon Myanmar. The Avalon ships were custom-built for Avalon Waterways.
Avalon said its itineraries on the Avalon Siem Reap, Avalon Myanmar and Amazon Discovery are continuing to operate as planned.
River cruise lines and tour operators, including Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection and Abercrombie & Kent, charter Haimark vessels.
