What Other Travelers are Saying...
“The Delfin crew took great care of me. They had a paramedic that went on every walk with me and assisted me to make the trek. I am proud to say I participated in every outing and this was only possible because of the commitment of the staff. The cruise itself was beautiful and every staff member made our journey memorable. If you are considering this cruise, I would highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.”

“I can’t say enough positive about the Delfin experience. All the staff were friendly, professional, and tried to learn everyone’s names. They made me feel special within just 3 days. The walking tour on land was amazing, with seeing lizards, birds, spiders, frogs, and even a beautiful large boa snake. Please bring school supplies to donate to the indigenous people in the villages. Visiting 1 of these villages was the highlight for me.”

Some Questions and Advice About Delfin Amazon Cruises
As the pioneer upscale Amazon River cruise operator in Peru and the world’s first Relais & Chateaux cruise, Delfin Amazon Cruises has been a dream come true for its Peruvian founders, Aldo and Lissy Macchiavello. A culmination of their passion and dedication, the entrepreneurial couple invite you to not only go bird watching in Peru but to connect with the Amazon River and rainforest, its people, culture and even yourself.
Understandably, you may have some questions before embarking on our Amazon River cruise:
Where will the cruise navigate?
All of our Amazon River cruises embark in Iquitos, Peru and cruise the Upper Amazon, crossing the waterways of the Amazon, Ucayali and Marañon rivers. No matter the length of your cruise or selected boat, our entire fleet passes through the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, bordered by the Marañon and Ucayali rivers. This area of the Amazon is the largest protected flooded forest and home to an incredibly diverse community of flora and fauna.
Will we be able to see animals up close?
Our naturalist guides will use their knowledge as locals of the area as well as their professional experience to show you as many examples of local fauna as possible. After all, the Amazon Basin houses the largest collection of living plant and animal species on Earth. From bird watching in Peru to swimming with pink dolphins, our planned activities will immerse you into the Peruvian Amazon rainforest and rivers, always with respect towards the safety of our guests and the wildlife.
Will my dietary restrictions and preferences be considered?
Our talented culinary team specializes in working with local ingredients to produce gourmet meals that reflect the Peruvian Amazon in both taste and presentation. Should you follow a vegetarian, vegan or any special diet (i.e. allergy restrictions), please inform us beforehand so that we can be sure to cater to you in the most satisfactory way.
What type of clothes should I pack?
To enjoy our onshore activities, be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes, lightweight pants and long-sleeved shirts, and a brimmed sun hat (rubber boots and rain ponchos will be provided). Indoors, we encourage casual clothes whether you plan to be at the bar, dining room or sundeck. There will be opportunities for swimming in the river, and the pool is always open, so be sure to pack your bathing suit or trunks.
Besides clothes, is there anything else I should bring?
Make sure to pack your binoculars and a camera so you don’t miss a thing on our outdoor excursions! And to keep your experience pleasurable, we highly recommend bug repellant with DEET and sunblock. We’ll also be visiting some of the local communities we partner with, and the young children appreciate any gifts you can bring them such as school supplies (i.e. pens, paper) and edible treats (i.e. chocolate bars, fruit juice).
Is internet access available onboard?
Currently our boats are not equipped with internet access. We hope you understand and take this as an opportunity to disconnect from your typical routine and connect to all the Amazon has to offer.
