Walter Wust’s journey into the realm of nature and photography began in Lima on August 12, 1967. Trained as a forest engineer, journalist, editor, and professional photographer, his dedication to environmental conservation and exploration has earned him widespread acclaim. With over 600 publications to his name, including books, guides, and encyclopedias, Walter Wust is regarded as Peru’s most prolific editor in ecological matters.
His contributions extend beyond publishing; Walter Wust currently directs Wust Ediciones and serves as the Director of Science at Bosques Amazónicos BAM. He is also a member of the boards of ACCA and the Instituto del Bien Común IBC, organizations committed to environmental protection and sustainable development. Furthermore, he founded the Environmental Engineering and Management program at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas UPC, shaping the next generation of environmental leaders.
During his tenure on the boards of the Servicio Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado SERNANP and the National Environmental Council, Walter Wust advocated for the conservation of protected areas and sustainable resource management practices, leaving an indelible mark on environmental policy in Peru.
